The 2011 Annual Conference of the New York State Association of Cemeteries

The Canadian Agency's Deputy Secretary-General participated in the New York State Association of Cemeteries' annual conference (http://www.nysac.com/calendar/equinox2011/welcome.html) held in Manchester Village, Vermont, USA from 18 to 20 September 2011. He explained the Commission's responsibilities towards the War Dead of both world wars commemorated in the USA with an emphasis on New York State and distributed publications and the Commission's DVD.

Battle of the Atlantic Ceremony - 1 May 2011

The Canadian Agency's Deputy Secretary-General attended the Battle of the Atlantic Ceremony held at the Halifax Memorial on 1 May 2011. The ceremony is located at Point Pleasant Park in Halifax, Nova Scotia and it commemorated the men and women of the Royal Canadian Navy, the Royal Canadian Navy Reserve, the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve, the Canadian Merchant Navy, the Merchant Seamen of Newfoundland and members of the Canadian Army who have no known grave but the sea.

ANZAC DAY - 25 April 2011

The Canadian Agency's Secretary-General attended the ANZAC Day Ceremony held at the Canadian War Museum on 25 April 2011. The ceremony commemorated the Australians, New Zealanders and Newfoundlanders who participated in the Dardanelles Campaign from 1915 to 1916 in Turkey.

The 2011 Annual Conference of the Cemetery and Crematorium Association of British Columbia

The Canadian Agency's Deputy Secretary-General and Inspecting Officer (Structure) participated in the Cemetery and Crematorium Association of British Columbia annual conference held in Kelowna from 6 to 8 April 2011. They staffed the Commission information booth, explained its responsibilities towards the War Dead of both world wars commemorated in British Columbia and distributed publications and the Commission's DVD.

The 2011 Annual Conference of the Pacific Coast Branch of the Western Front Association

The Canadian Agency's Deputy Secretary-General participated in the annual conference of the Pacific Coast Branch of the Western Front Association held in Victoria, British Columbia, from 4 to 6 March 2011. He presented the history and mandate of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and explained its responsibilities towards the War Dead of both world wars commemorated in North America to the association members.
